Okay ladies, I'm gonna make this easy for you.

Some people... not gonna name any names here... but SOME PEOPLE want to add custom music to their Arma3 missions... I have NO IDEA WHY, but maybe because they wanna be badass or something...

Now I know some of us remember the awful tragedy that occurred when someone tried to bring in the beastie boys into a dogfight mission... We'll remember that day always *moment of silence*.

So I, ZenWalker, budding scriptmaster, am gonna school you pukes on how it's done right... so we don't have another disaster like that, so LISTEN UP!

Step 1: You need a mission to be saved already. If you are just starting a mission, save it, and remember what it's called. For arguments sake, we are gonna call this mission HighSchoolMusical, and it's gonna be on Altis. Why? Cuz f*** you that's why.

Step 2: Where the hell did that mission go? Right here dumbass...
C:\Users\Michael\Documents\Arma 3 - Other Profiles\ZenWalker\missions\HighSchoolMusical.Altis

Step 3: Now that you found it, open that shit up and keep it open. You are now in your saved Mission Folder. Remember that term.

Step 4: Make a new folder inside your saved Mission Folder. Call this folder Music, because... no shit, this is where your music is gonna go. Mind f***ng blown right?

Step 5: Go to this web site. http://audio.online-conve ... t.com/convert-to-ogg

Step 6: Scroll down. Click browse. Find the MP3 file you want in your game, then select it.

Step 7: Scroll down further, then click "Convert File" on the web page.

Step 8: After the file converts, you'll be able to save the file to your computer. THIS IS IMPORTANT and this is where a lot of people will fuck up if they don't listen.

!!! Save the file as whichever track number you want it to be... like... each mission will have it's own set of tracks, starting from track 1... so for this mission, you are gonna title it track1. Make sure you save it to the music folder you just made!!!

Step... what step are we on... 9? ... yeah, 9: After you convert and save that file, you can convert more tracks by going to the web site again and doing the process all over again. Too easy. Just make sure you call them track2, track3, track4.... and so on.

Step 10: Back out to your saved Mission Folder... NOT YOUR MUSIC FOLDER DAMMIT!!... NO, NOT YOUR ARMA 3 MAIN FOLDER EITHER.... Jesus Christ man! I'm gonna make this a single step on its own.

Step 11: Inside your saved Mission Folder, make a new notepad folder, and save it as "description.ext" then open it.

Step 12: Copy and paste the shortscript I put in the comments of this post into that notepad.

Step 13: As you can see, I put two tracks in it, this is to show you how it works for multiple tracks.

In "tracks[] = {track1, track2};"
you are gonna need to list every single track you put into your music folder. Don't ask why, just f****ng do it.

Each track is going to need the following

class track1
{
name = "track1";
sound[] = {\music\track1.ogg, db + 0, 1.0};
};

Obviously you are going to change the "track1" and "track1.ogg" to whatever damn track you are selecting.

Step... whatever the f***: Launch Arma3, go into the editor and load your mission, and make your trigger. In the "on action" box, sometimes represented as "On Act," you're going to put the following script line.

playMusic "track1";

or whatever track you want to play.

Make sure you synch the trigger up to whatever it is you are gonna use as the trigger. That's another topic for another day... I'm making the assumption you know how to synch up triggers already.

Anyway, save your mission, and reload it, then preview.

Activate your trigger and rock out with your c*** out.

If you have questions, slap yourself, then contact me personally. I'll explain it to you, but I'll be nicer because you already slapped yourself... right?

Out.

P.S. Don't forget to click "Comments" to see the shortscript. I also posted a better version on the clan skydrive. If you need access, you should be contacting me and getting on TeamSpeak.

I have wanted to find something like this for a while now.
http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=28152
It's a PDF instructions and attached mission sample.
So far very easy to follow instructions for adding Headless Clients to A3 missions.

So you are looking to make a mission and want a fresh piece of terrain. You go looking through the list and find new and ported maps of varying quality. Playing like we do, it is easy to breeze right over the small ones. It doesn't seem like you could spend too long on one of these 5X5 Km maps, even if they are nice enough.

https://forums.bistudio.c ... /topic/161428-mikero´s-dos-tools-how-do-you-use-them/

One of Mikero's tools is BisCampaignMaker. It is for stringing missions together and could be used to link all these little patches of earth in a more complex way than we are getting from one large island.

There are some unusual microterrains that could tell a Bond movie plot in cinematic style, and enough purpose-made Afghan maps to allow intel gathering and mission success/failure outcomes to have meaning within the story.
