I just tested the Afghanistan map a little while ago. So far I haven't found any major issues with it. It is zeus compatible, and it runs beautifully despite the size.

... on that note, I wanted to address something that Taz had mentioned about this map... His comment was:

"DBO Afghanistan is F'n HUGE!!!"

Taz... my friend... you are wrong.

This map... your words don't give credit, to the sheer enormity of this map.

This map is not f'n huge... It's....

*sigh* let me... let me try to explain it another way...

This is just an idea of how large this map is... as explained from the perspective of a soldier... somewhere amidst the void of desert...

Take a look at the attachment.

All that being said, there are two downsides.

There are almost no structures (at least, none that I could find, and I aint searching that entire fucking map).

No water, so no boats... no naval warfare. Everything is dry humping only.

So we'll have to build each of the bases we make, which is marginally more effort than normal, which is okay. The design of this style of warfare is a bit different than Altis. It's Afghanistan desert style warfare, which involves a lot more search and destroy vs. ambush kind of warfare.

The map itself is gorgeous... aside from the fact that it's a desert in the Persian Gulf, the tectonics are dynamic, and stimulating, as well as geographically believable. The map is immersive in it's design, and allows for a lot of space to develop. It literally swallows you up whole, and makes you feel small and insignificant, just like Afghanistan is supposed to do.

If you started on the far west side, you could literally drive for hours before you reach the other side of this map.

My official recommendation: Approval
